Peter Pan 03:52
Summer nights
when we were kings & queens of cul-de-sacs & streets
cutting curfews and wearing wholes right through the knees of our skinny jeans
we always knew it couldn’t last forever
but looking back the future always seemed like something better

 We are growing old,
but we, we’ve still got time
 Yeah, we are growing old,
 but we’re not growing up.

So turn the page back with me.
Let’s get grass stains on our feet
& sleep in separate beds so you miss me.
And when we finally say good night,
can we do our best to try to act as though we just turned 18?

There’s romance in a bottle that your older brother bought for you
sipping SoCo in a circle making promises we knew
we’d never be able to do enough to make them last.
We left them stranded, now those dreams are dying,
they haunt me from the past.

We are growing old,
but we, we’ve still got time
 Yeah, we are growing old,
 but we’re not growing up.

So turn the page back with me.
Let’s get grass stains on our feet
& sleep in separate beds so you miss me.
And when we finally say good night,
can we do our best to try to act as though we just turned 18?

So turn the page back with me.
Let’s get grass stains on our feet
& sleep in separate beds so you miss me.
And when we finally say good night,
can we do our best to try to act as though we just turned 18?

How many gallons of ink left your friends and family stained?
Letters sunk in skin that first crawled from your face
left us accomplices in this mess you’ve made

We all see you now.
Everybody knows you’re no white knight
& never were our hero.
 We finally saw your face.

You only showed us the darkest parts that you wanted us to see
 but the thing about secrets
that’s so damn hard
is you can’t keep a secret
if it never was a secret to start.
At least pretend you didn’t want to get caught.

We all see you now.
Everybody knows you’re no white knight
& never were our hero.
 We finally saw your face.
 So what’s your excuse?
We all fight the fight,
devil & God raging inside.
 It’s time for you-
the bullet or the chapstick,
the millstone or the truth.

Drive-Thru 03:24
We were still learning to drive,
& learning how to use our hands & our mouths at the same time
 when the stereo’s sound
crept in the back and wrapped its way around our nervous bodies.
& suddenly we knew the words for hope & hurt,
& found comfort in the chorus as you took off my shirt

Leave the lights on.
I want you to see: everything is new.

Our sweat hung like a cloud.
We were out of breath but somehow we were screaming at the same time.
Possessed by the sound we wrapped our fingers tight & shared the rhythm with our bodies.
The bass and drums grew, and all the weight & hurt
that held us down peeled off our backs as we left the earth

Leave the lights on.
I want you to see: everything is new.

"All these said, every word again…" "
The sky will never look the same…
" "You can have the best of me
" "while I’m sleeping in your living room, but we don’t have much room
" "So let’s kill monsters in the rain,
 oh we are the same,
what a mess we’ll make,
 what a mess we’ll make!"

Leave the lights on.
I want you to see: everything is new.

Bay State 03:06
I know it's over & I'm not saying that feels great but I had fun & I hope you feel the same. You were never going to wear my ring & that's okay because I'm not saying I was asking. Will you miss me while you're away learning things in the Bay State? Do you think maybe that you'll decide to stay there? I think the thing I fear the most while you're out on the East Coast is that you'll come to think of your home as just flyover country. When I think of you I see the chipped nail-polish on your toes & the way you move so soft & slow. You love the summers here, the sticky heat & humidity. You said the salt & sweat on your skin always makes you feel free. Will you miss that while you're away learning things in the Bay State? Do you think maybe that you'll decide to stay there? I think the thing I fear the most while you're out on the East Coast is that you'll come to think of your home as just flyover country. Right now we're walking down the same streets that we always did & everything's the same except this time we take it in, & we go up to our apartment because last call just came & went & we round the night of nicely with sazeracs & Paul Simon & we go through all the motions as if it's all we ever did. But while you're lying next to me I hope you finally feel freed by the salt & the sweat we share on our skin. Will you miss that while you're away learning things in the Bay State? Do you think you'll find somebody new to hold there? I know you'll glow bright as you grow but selfishly, I truly hope that you never think of your home- please, don't ever think of your home as just flyover country.

Blink 03:35
Back when I was younger (so much younger than I am today) I thought time was on my side. I never thought I'd live forever but I can't say that I never let a moment pass me by. Just try to find something that makes you feel alive. Don't wait 'til it's already over. Don't wait 'til it's already done. Don't blink! Don't wait for the right moment. You'll open your eyes and realize it's already gone. Hope that when I'm older (so much older than I am today) I'm proud of how I lived my life. No, I don't want to live forever (the ending makes a story better) but I'm still scared to die. Just try to find something that makes you feel alive. Don't wait 'til it's already over. Don't wait 'til it's already done. Don't blink! Don't wait for the right moment. You'll open your eyes and realize it's already gone.
